In the Shoes of my Mother

Introduction: Hey everyone! I’m Tanisha and this is my first ever blog. I’m so excited! Do mention in the comments below what you think of it. For my first blog, I decided to write about something…well, unique. So go ahead. Enjoy!

In the Shoes of my Mother

Things have changed for us. There’s no denying that. The car of life has taken a drastic U-turn after the lockdown was announced. I have learned a lot about my family. So that’s what I’m going to talk about today. My family. In particular, my mother.

What we don’t notice in the slightest is how our parents slave away for hours, chopping rigorously away at tindora so you can get a good meal. Or how their fingers seem like they’re going to fall off after they’ve typed important documents and articles about loans and prime property. I’ll tell you a little story, shall I? Just the other day, during the early… umm…I’m not even sure what time or day it was! All days and times during the lockdown seem the same to us! Anyways, I was lying down in bed, Bored out of my mind, just staring at the ceiling. I decided to go and see what my mother was doing. There she was, just standing there in the kitchen and cooking. I decided to help her cook. So I went over to her and offered my help. For the next 3 hours we were just cooking paneer butter masala! Can you imagine that? I did have fun, nevertheless. Curious about what other work my mother did throughout the day, I decided to copy whatever she did for the whole day. We started out with 4 hours of organizing kitchen drawers! Just as I was ready to take a long, well-deserved break, we had to start chopping vegetables. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF VEGETABLES. I am not kidding. I almost broke a finger from exhaustion. Then it was onion-chopping time! I was crying. Not just because of the onions. We cleaned a room after that, which wasn’t bad, it only took half an hour. We were working for the rest of the day. We got to relax for 1-2 hours (thank goodness) and then we went to bed. Here’s a summary of what I learned;

Our mothers work very hard during our everyday life. I mean it. Please try to cooperate with them. I understand that you may not like the evil look she gives you after you’ve spilled juice all over your shirt, but you definitely will appreciate what she does for you. Finally, I’d like to send out a special thank you to my mother!

Thank you!

Very well written. Mothers and home makers dont often get credit, leave alone the credit that is rightfully due to them.

They always put our needs before theirs! And they always should be appreciated, everyday, not just once in awhile.
